Eleventh Conference on Climate Change and Development (CCDA-XI) in Africa, Nairobi, 1-2 September.
Hosted by the ClimDev-Africa partners, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change & Forestry of the Government of Kenya and with the support of the Pan-African Climate Justice Alliance (PACJA).
The CCDA will be convened as the technical segment of the Africa Climate Summit (ACS) under the theme; “African Solidarity for Global Climate Action”.
The overall objective of CCDA – XI is to produce detailed analytical and evidence-based position reports on the various subthemes of the ACS. These reports will guide discussions of the summit and contribute to the outcome statements for African Heads of State. These outcomes will also contribute to the African common positions at COP28 to be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

7th Global Environment Facility (GEF) Assembly 2023
Seventh Global Environment Facility (GEF) Assembly 2023, Vancouver, 22-26 August.
Hosted by the Government of Canada, the assembly will build on recent diplomatic breakthroughs on biodiversity loss, toxic chemicals, and the high seas, the GEF Assembly will be a critical stocktaking for 2030 goals to end pollution and nature loss, combat climate change, and propel inclusive, locally-led conservation.
It is expected to include the launch of the Global Biodiversity Framework Fund, a new source of funding for protecting endangered species and their ecosystems globally. The GEF was selected to manage this new fund at the COP15 Convention on Biological Diversity summit in December 2022.

Global Community of Practice (G-CoP) Policy Dialogue Series - Leveraging Potentials of the Youth for Inclusive, Green and Sustainable Development in Africa
The African Development Institute of the African Development Bank Group, in collaboration with the United Nations, Global Green Growth Institute, African Youth Initiative on Climate Change, and International Labour Organization will hold a dialogue on "Leveraging Youth for Sustainable Development in Africa" on July 31, 2023 (Western Hemisphere) and August 1, 2023 (Eastern Hemisphere).
The event aims to harness the potential of African youth as change agents, entrepreneurs, and innovators for inclusive and green economic transformation in Africa, given the continent's projected population growth and potential workforce increase.
