Country Brief
Lesotho is located in the south eastern part of Southern Africa. Geographically, climate change is already affecting Lesotho’s climatic patterns, causing substantial environmental and socio-economic loss. Effectively, the majority of the country’s population does not have adequate adaptive capacity and resilience to climate change, and is thus more vulnerable to the negative impacts of climate change and extreme weather events. The country continues to exert visible efforts that amply reflect the increasing importance of climate change issues. Suffice to say, Lesotho is at an advanced stage of finalizing Climate Change Policy and Strategy as well as the Sustainable Energy Strategy to spur climate change activities.
