Country Brief
Algeria showed commitment to collaborating with other Parties to achieve the objectives of the UNFCCC by submitting her First Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) on 20th October 2016. The country is particularly vulnerable to greenhouse gases accumulation effects, and also faces challenges related to food security, its ecosystems and agriculture resilience. Algeria’s mitigation strategy covers mainly energy, forests, housing, transport, industry and waste sectors and its implementation plan is for the 2021-2030 period. The country is yet to submit its updated NDC, Long-term low carbon and climate-resilient development strategies (LTS) and National Adaptation Plan (NAP).
